New technology to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide in Opole

03.04.2018

Energetyka Cieplna Opolszczyzny with the Energy Institute and the companies Budimex and Mostostal Kraków are developing new technologies for cheap and effective reduction of nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide emissions in the process of coal combustion in the boilers.

In the WR25 boiler- screens in Opole, preparatory works have already been carried out to carry out temperature measurements to determine the so-called temperature window. It is an area of optimal temperature that allows the reduction of nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide. The solution requires little interference in the structure of the boiler and low installation costs.

The research effect can bring the important effect for the heating industry i.e. reduction of nitrogen oxides at a level of at least 60%. and reduction of sulfur dioxide even above 90%. – depending on the reagent used and the implemented optimization. Such efficiency enables compliance with new emission standards for gaseous pollutants in the full capacity range of boilers.
