Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun (UMK) has won the prestigious Elsevier Research Impact Leaders Award, given to institutions with the greatest impact on research. The Toruń-based university won the top prize in the Humanities category and an honourable mention in Social Sciences.
The Research Impact Leaders Award, granted for the first time in 2016, is part of Elsevier’s global initiative to support research and scientific development across disciplines. The awards recognise outstanding research institutions that have the greatest impact on scientific research and contribute to better recognition of Polish science worldwide.
In selecting the winners, the award jury takes into account, among other things, the number of publications in the most important scientific journals in the world, foreign co-authors and the citation rate for a given discipline.
