Nicolaus Copernicus University joins Consortium ATHENA-PL

The Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń joined the Consortium ATHENA-PL. The main purpose is to develop project documentation and to build and integrate ATHENA satellite components (The Advanced Telescope for High-Energy Astrophysics).

The ATHENA satellite is a new generation of X-ray telescope gathering information about the formation and evolution of galaxies, star clusters, galaxies and black holes. Consortium ATHENA-PL will deal with technologies for space observation and observations in the field of astrophysics.

The consortium is formed by the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), Space Research Center PAS and Center for Theoretical Physics PAS in Warsaw, National Center for Nuclear Research in Otwock as well as Jagiellonian, Wroclaw, Szczecin, Lodz Bialystok, Kielce and Torun universities.
