On 16 March, Sir Peter Ratcliffe, winner of the 2019 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, will give a lecture at the University of Warsaw (UW). The meeting will take place at the Centre for Biological and Chemical Sciences. The idea and main organiser is the Nobel Prize Outreach in collaboration with AstraZeneca, as part of the Nobel Prize Inspiration Initiative.
In 2019, Sir Peter J. Ratcliffe, together with William Kaelin and Gregg Semenza, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his contribution to the discovery of how cells sense and adapt to the availability of oxygen.
On 16 March, the Nobel laureate will give a lecture to the UW community ‘Understanding cellular oxygen sensing mechanisms: adventures of a physician in discovery science’. The talk will cover topics including oxygen balance in the human body and the links between discovery science and drug development. The lecture will be combined with a Q&A session.
