Oliwia Raniszewska, who will start her education at the Medical University of Gdansk in October, was among the 50 finalists of the international Global Student Prize competition organised by the Varkey Foundation. It is intended for pupils and students undertaking social and research initiatives, as well as those starting their scientific careers.

The winner of the competition can expect a financial prize. In the event of a triumph, the future student intends to use it to develop her research career by, among other things, travelling to conferences and supporting the education of children from war-affected areas. She also plans to develop the skin lesion detection device she co-invented.

The student – in addition to taking part in university classes – has also become involved in community activities, presenting prospects for further education to primary school students, as well as running courses to prepare them for biology Olympiads.
