Opening of the Mazurian Centre for Biodiversity and Nature Education KUMAK

The Mazurian Centre for Biodiversity and Nature Education KUMAK in Urwitałta near Mikołajki will be officially opened on 23 November 2023. The inaugural lecture “From the perspective of the toad: mysteries of wetlands and ponds” will be given by Professor Wiktor Kotowski from the Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw (UW).

The Mazurian Centre for Biodiversity and Nature Education KUMAK, operating at the Faculty of Biology of the UW, is a complex of two buildings designed on a circular plan. 

The first of these has an educational function; it houses an exhibition on the ecosystem of small water bodies. The exhibition presents the nature of Warmia and Mazury and its relationship to humans. The exhibition focuses on small water reservoirs and wetland ecosystems.

The second building has a didactic function – it houses laboratories, as well as a seminar room with accommodation facilities.
