Opole scientists to examine the attitudes of the voivodeship inhabitants towards immigrants

12.04.2021

Scientists of the Faculty of Economics and Management of the Opole University of Technology have started researching the attitudes of the inhabitants of the Opole Voivodeship towards immigrants. It will be a unique study, because it is carried out on a representative group of 1000 people.

The inhabitants of Opole will be asked about the attitude towards representatives of various nations, the tendency to accept foreigners, e.g. as colleagues, neighbors or family members. Researchers will also ask what rights for immigrants would be accepted by the inhabitants of the voivodeship. They include freedom of communication in public space in their languages, the possibility of establishing associations, as well as the right to vote in local elections for people from outside the European Union.

Questions will also concern issues related to the presence of foreigners in the region – including increase of crime rate or their impact on the decrease in salaries for native workers. They will also cover the process of immigrants’ inclusion, i.e. their gradual inclusion in Polish society.
