The Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) has provided more than PLN 1.2 billion to support science in Poland over the past eight years. Thanks to funds from the European Programme for Intelligent Development (POIR) several hundred research teams have been created and 14 centres of excellence have been launched, implementing projects worldwide.

During the conference ‘International Research Agendas – Supporting Excellence and Innovation’, held at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Prof. Maciej Żylicz, President of the FNP, summarised the effects of the activities implemented by the Foundation with the OPIR since 2015.

The meeting was also an opportunity to present the report ‘Science in times of change. How research funded by European Funds helps protect us from global threats and exploit historical opportunities. The report presents more than 30 outstanding scientists and their research funded by the Foundation for Polish Science with POIR funds.
