PhD student at the University of Life Sciences in Wroclaw wins the Anna Pasek competition

Henryk Grzywna – PhD student at the Institute of Environmental Shaping and Protection at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wroclaw became a laureate of the Anna Pasek Scholarship Competition. promoting the most talented PhD students of Polish universities.

The laureate is a graduate of engineering and water management. His scientific interests focus on the use of GIS (geographic information system) tools and remote sensing in environmental monitoring, and he focuses on the monitoring of soil moisture with respect to drought monitored for agriculture.

The project awarded in the competition demonstrates the usefulness of remote sensing techniques for imaging the temporal and spatial variability of humidity conditions. The author develops the use of operational methodology for forecasting agricultural drought based on satellite spectral data.
