Philologist from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń awarded for research on Canada

Prof Anna Branach-Kallas from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, has been awarded the prestigious Certficate of Merit 2023 by the International Council for Canadian Studies. The award is given to individuals who make a significant contribution to Canadian studies.

The International Council for Canadian Studies (ICCS) is an organisation of scholars from 39 countries who are involved in Canadian studies. It is based in Toronto and the organisation’s patron is the Royal Governor General of Canada.

The ICCS recognised Professor Anna Branach-Kallas’ outstanding academic achievements, her international research activities and her activity in organising conferences and other events related to Canadian culture. The Torun-based researcher was also recognised for her contribution to the popularisation of knowledge about the Maple Leaf Country not only at Nicolaus Copernicus University, but also elsewhere in the country and the world.
