Photovoltaic installations worth a total of PLN 2.4 million will soon be installed on the roofs of student residences, deanery buildings and the Collegium Biomedicum of the Gdansk Medical University. The investment is possible thanks to the participation in the Brodziec – Adaptation to Climate Change programme.

The total capacity of the renewable energy sources will be 449 kW. Annual electricity production is estimated to be around 380 MWh. The energy will be used for the University’s own needs.

The investment is of economic and ecological importance. The University will pay less for electricity and annual emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere will be reduced by 270 tonnes.

The Brodziec – Adaptation to Climate Change programme is a pilot action of the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdańsk. It is open to public universities from the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
