Playing with a whale helps kids support inhalation

05.06.2019

Scientists of the University of Silesia have developed a game that supports inhalation. Their invention allows to monitor whether the patient performs the inhalation correctly and makes the long procedure less burdensome for the child.

The child, by regulating the breathing rate during inhalation, controls the figure of the whale visible on the screen, which devours the food, situated on various levels, making it bigger and bigger. In this way, the young patient learns to breathe and exhale very quickly, and at the same time concentrates on the floating hero, not on the loud device, which often arouses fear for children.

Respiration monitoring is possible thanks to the sensor installed in the inhaler mask. The scientists can program the inhalation time and other parameters in the system to assure the best possible inhalation effects.
