27.07.2018

The budget of the Horizon Europe research and innovation framework program will amount to nearly 100 billion euros in the years 2021-2027. This is the European Commission’s proposal for this largest research and innovation program in Europe in history. According to preliminary estimates, up to EUR 8 billion may be allocated to Poland.

Horizon Europe consists of three areas. Open Science (open science) is to support research projects conducted by scientists, fund scholarships and scientific exchanges, and invest in top-class research infrastructure.

In turn, the area called Global Challenges and Industrial Competitiveness (global challenges and industrial competitiveness) is to support research related to social and industrial changes. Support in this area is to be divided into six thematic clusters: health, safe society, digitization and industry, climate, energy and mobility as well as food and natural resources.

The last area is Open Innovation, which aims to make Europe the leader in innovation.
Detailed distribution of funds to individual EU countries will be made in 2019.
