Poland’s first open large language model to be created

The Polish PLLuM grand language model, trained on mainly Polish-language content, and an intelligent assistant based on it, will be created as part of a collaboration between six leading research units in the fields of AI, natural language processing and corpus linguistics, the NASK National Research Institute reports.

Six of Poland’s leading scientific units in the field of artificial intelligence and linguistics: Wrocław University of Technology (consortium leader), the NASK National Research Institute, the Information Processing Centre – National Research Institute (OPI PIB), the Institute of Computer Science Basics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), the University of Łódź and the Institute of Slavic Studies of the PAN have formed the PLLuM (Polish Large Language Universal Model) consortium. 

The aim of the consortium is to create the first Polish-language open large language model and an intelligent assistant using this model. The entire project is to be carried out in accordance with good practices of ethical and responsible artificial intelligence, including keeping the data representative, transparent and fair.
