Until December 31, Poles can vote in the competition for the Word of the Year 2021. On the website sloworoku.uw.edu.pl, everyone can choose one of several dozen words (including: border, vaccination, migrant, mutation, feminine virtue) or send their own proposal.    

Anyone can vote, but it is limited by five votes per IP address per day. The word with the most submissions will win.

The participants of the plebiscite may vote in two ways – by selecting a word or phrase from the list provided by the organizers or by submitting their own proposal. They can suggest nouns, adjectives, verbs or other parts of speech, as well as short phrases and expressions.

The catalog of words is created on the basis of keywords from Polish dailies. The list is updated monthly.

Regardless of the internet voting, the selection of the Word of the Year is also made by the jury of the competition. Last year, the most important word chosen by both the jury and Internet users was coronavirus.
