Dr Bogdan Damski and Dr Marek Rams from the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science of the Jagiellonian University became laureates of the Marian Mięsowicz’s Award. The Polish Academy of Skills (PAU) awarded them for their work “Quantum fidelity in the thermodynamic limit”.
The work was published in the prestigious journal Physical Review Letters in 2011 and has been cited about 100 times so far.
The Marian Mięsowicz’s Prize is awarded to Polish scholars every two years for works in physics, astrophysics, biophysics or geophysics published in international journals. The winners are selected by a commission of scientists from the scholars of the PAU Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The patron of the award is Prof. Marian Mięsowicz, one of the greatest contemporary Polish physicists, the creator of new research methods in the applications of nuclear physics, elementary particles and cosmic radiation. He was a doctor honoris causa of the Jagiellonian University and worked for many years for the AGH University of Science and Technology, Polish Academy of Sciences and PAU.
