Polish Academy of Sciences and the University of Warsaw extend strategic cooperation

Prof. Jerzy Duszyński President of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), and Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the rector of the University of Warsaw (UW) signed an agreement which provides for the creation of new joint organizations composed of outstanding foreign and Polish scientists conducting research and development works at the highest world level. To begin with, the Polish Academy of Sciences will establish a new international institute that will continue the “Regenerative Mechanisms for Health” project within the “International Research Agendas” (IRA) program.

PAN emphasizes, that for many years the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw has been linked with the Mathematical Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences creating a joint Warsaw PhD School of Mathematics and Computer Science.

Also, the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences houses the Interdisciplinary Center for Mathematical and Computational Modeling, the Institute of Genetics and Biotechnology and the Department of Systems Biology at the Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw.

The new agreement emphasizes cooperation in obtaining grants and conducting research on current challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and civilization diseases.
