The Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) has published a monograph “Polish language in the era of digitization”, which consists of 24 articles describing in a cross-sectional way how the development of the network has changed the ways of communication and the Polish language.
The articles collected in the publication are concerning various topics related to Internet communication and its influence on language, communication habits and the perception of the Polish language by Internet users. The authors of the texts also dealt with the issue of digital threats and their elimination as well as digitization of texts and dictionaries.
The first group of texts is devoted to the influence of new media on the structure of language and social discourse.
Four articles are devoted to relatively new phenomena popular especially among young people: the language of internet memes, the ludic character of the language of computer games and youth slang, called by the author of the text, Anna Wileczek, “young speech”.
Subsequent articles deal with the social aspects of language culture, as well as the attitude of Poles to the Polish language. The specific communication between the office and the citizen on public administration portals was also described.
