Polish Academy of Sciences to hold debates “Pro Tempora. Dialogue of Sciences”

On January 22, 2021, the Theological Sciences Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences is holding a new series of interdisciplinary debates “Pro Tempora. Dialogue of Sciences”.

Rector of the Catholic Academy in Warsaw, Prof. Krzysztof Pawlina believes that the debates will be “talks on topics important both today and in the future”. The first debate will be conducted with philosophers and theologians on freedom.

Prof. Pawlin, who has been chairing the Committee of Theological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences since May 2020, emphasizes that the essence of this project is to invite representatives of various scientific disciplines to a dialogue. The rectors of Warsaw universities have already expressed interest in this proposal.

Three debates are scheduled until the summer holidays. The first debate on “Freedom and responsibility in the age of anthropological naturalism” will be held on Friday, January 22 at 19.00. A debate “Can you be free and responsible in the world of artificial intelligence?” is scheduled in March, and a debate on “Morality and statutory law” in May.
