Polish-Chinese research on dairy products

Since 2019, researchers from the University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn, together with their Chinese partners from the Beijing University of Technology and Business (BTBU), have been implementing the DairyFunInn project, which is expected to result, among other things, in the development of dairy products with special health properties.

The project ‘Innovative technologies for the production of dairy-derived functional ingredients and new product development’, or DairyFunInn, will conclude in July this year.

In addition to BTBU, UWM’s partners from the Chinese side in this project include Institute of Food Science and Technology of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Knowledge, Tianjin University of Science and Technology (TUST) and Shijiazhuang Junlebao Dairy. 

The scientific effect of the project is up to 11 scientific publications, including several joint publications with Chinese scientists. But there is also a practical effect: UWM will soon file an application with the Polish Patent Office for patent protection of the method of obtaining the selected protein fractions. 

In addition, the project participants have set up a Functional Dairy Research and Development Centre. The consortium will handle the implementation of the results of this project into production.
