Polish scientists and engineers to take part in the study of Jupiter’s moons

24.12.2018

Polish scientists and engineers from the Astronika company and the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences will take part in the JUICE mission (JUpiter ICy moon Explorer) implemented by the European Space Agency.

In 2022, a space probe will be sent to Jupiter, which will investigate four of its moons: Io, Europe, Ganymede and Callisto. The probe is to conduct a search for liquid water under the surface of these objects, in terms of the possibility of life occurring on them.

– Missions like JUICE have a taint of great geographic discoveries. Climbing to the heights of technological possibilities, we take up challenges that exceed our imagination. In the 15th and 16th centuries, overseas expeditions were sponsored by kings, today this function was taken over by modern governments. This function was also taken by the Polish government, noting the role of space projects in the Strategy for Responsible Development and adopting the Polish Space Strategy – said Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin.
