Polish scientists grown chicken meat on a skeleton of a spinach leaf

– The consistency resembles seaweed, has a slightly salty aftertaste with no slight taste of spinach in it, but it doesn’t taste like chicken either. So it is a completely new taste – describes the product Stanisław Łoboziak the head of the experiment from the Copernicus Science Center (CNK) in Warsaw.

To create the product presented at the Copernicus Science Center, Warsaw scientists placed chicken cells in a cellulose spinach leaf skeleton. Stanisław Łoboziak emphasizes, that breeding one leaf with chicken meat lasts about three weeks, which is faster than “traditional” chicken intended for slaughter.

Meat grown in the laboratory is obtained from cells taken from live animals; a sample the size of a pinhead is enough. This means that in the future it will be possible to obtain meat without animal suffering.
