The Łukasiewicz – Polish Center for Technology Development PORT from Wrocław, together with the Polish company Novazym, started works on the first in Poland rapid molecular test LAMP diagnosing SARS-CoV-2 infection. The partners will also prepare antibodies for rapid serological tests for the virus antigen. It is part of the Science Shield with purpose to combat the pandemic.
The LAMP rapid molecular test is an excellent alternative to the commonly used and recommended by WHO Real-time PCR tests. It allows to obtain results faster – the reaction result appears after 15-30 minutes (instead of 1-1.5 hours) – and cheaper than in the case of Real-time PCR, showing similar or even higher sensitivity and specificity.
Close cooperation of scientists from Łukasiewicz – PORT with Novazym can bring a chance to introduce new kits to the market quickly.
