The Pomeranian Medical University (PUM) in Szczecin has joined universities and institutes working for the women’s scientific community in Poland as part of the ” Girls to Science!” programme. The programme is intended to promote scientific careers among female students and doctoral candidates and provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience.
The initiative is an endeavour of female scientists from Polish medical and technical universities initiated by the Perspektywy Educational Foundation in cooperation with the Young Science Foundation and the Agreement of Doctoral Students of Technical Universities and coordinated by the Academy of Young Scientists of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The programme is planning to organise meetings about the role of women in science, introduce local female role-models in the STEM field, and encourage female students to take an interest in research careers – introducing them to its glories, shadows and the challenges it brings. A scientific mentoring programme aimed at female PUM students and PhD students is also planned.
