Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin to present three coronavirus projects

The Medical Research Agency has awarded three grants to the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin as part of a competition for the implementation of projects dedicated to minimizing the epidemiological risk associated with the spread of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

The project “Evaluation of humoral response in the population exposed to SARS CoV 2 virus: clinical, epidemiological and organizational implications in the field of healthcare” will be conducted under the guidance of Prof. Bogusław Machaliński. Its value is almost PLN 2 million.

The project “The use of mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (spironolactone) in the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis associated with SARS CoV-2 infection”, worth 100,000 PLN, will be conducted by Dr Katarzyna Kotfis, Dr Jerzy Sieńko, Prof. of the Pomeranian Medical University, will lead the project “Analysis of ACE2 gene polymorphisms in the assessment of the severity of the clinical course of COVID-19”, worth 130 thousand PLN.
