Prof. Jan Lubiński, head of the Department of Genetics and Pathomorphology at the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin, International Centre for Hereditary Tumours, was ranked 2nd among Poles and 2949th in the world in the Top Medicine Scientists ranking.
Profiles of nearly 66,000 scientists in the medical field were considered with Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic Graph. The final list included 16,241 researchers with a Hirsch index of no less than 70.
The laureate emphasises that scientific success consists of many factors, but the foundation is hard work and scientific creativity.
“I’ve always enjoyed studying in depth, I’ve attached importance to projects where I was building something, creating something. This is a quality that is underestimated enough. I understood very quickly that if I wanted to conduct research in Poland, it had to be low-cost, based on a good idea and good organisation, and have an implementation character,’ says Prof. Lubiński.
