Researchers from the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Centre (PSNC) and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan have conducted a study to present models of amateur sport participation during COVID-19 restrictions on outdoor activities. The results were published in the journal Man and Society.
During the implementation of the study, questionnaire survey data and information available through wearable devices were used. Physical activity was studied based on the results of a questionnaire and data from a popular social networking site.
Respondents were asked about the types of their workouts, their rhythm and their preference for using new technologies (devices and social networks to upload and share results) as part of their individual workouts, and a collection of more than 11,000 photos of 3138 users was used, with metadata downloaded from Instagram to compare statements and content posted online.
