Students from the Academic Circle AKL Aero Design at the Poznań University of Technology will once again take part in the SAE Aero Design competition in the USA and Mexico. The first stage of the competition will start on March 8 in Fort Worth, Texas.
SAE Aero Design is a prestigious competition for young constructors of aircraft models. The competition has been held since 1986, organized by the International Association of Transport Engineers SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers).
The competition consists in the independent design and construction of a remotely controlled aircraft that will be able to carry as much weight as possible. Models must be presented before the commission of judges and carried out with flights loaded.
Students of the University of Technology have participated in SAE Aero Design competitions since 2008. During this time, they were on the podium 21 times. This year, they will represent the university and city in Monterrey (Mexico) and in Van Nuys, California.
