Silesian University of Technology launches “Encounters with passion”

Meeting with Prof. Jerzy Buzek began the series “Encounters with passion” – the program where the guests inspire students with their achievements. The event was organized by the Students’ Self-Government and the University Council of the PhD Students of the Silesian University of Technology.

During the meeting with students, the former Prime Minister and the President of the European Parliament recalled times of studies at the Silesian University of Technology, but also convinced that Silesia has a future, and graduates of the University of Technology have never had problems finding a job.

Professor Jerzy Buzek graduated from the Silesian University of Technology in 1963. Later he worked at the Institute of Chemical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Gliwice, where he wrote his PhD thesis in the technical sciences. In the years 1997-2001 he was the Prime Minister, since 2004 he has been continuously a member of the European Parliament, in the years 2009-2012 he was its chairman.
