Poznań University of Adam Mickiewicz to launch a laboratory for testing the properties of materials at ultra-low temperatures

14.07.2021

The Ministry of Education and Science awarded PLN 4.4 million for the implementation of the investment “System for testing transport properties of low-dimensional materials at ultra-low temperatures”. The applicant was Dr Maciej Wiesner from the Department of Dielectric Physics at the Faculty of Physics of the University in Poznań.

The money will allow creating an interdisciplinary laboratory for testing the physical properties of materials at ultra-low temperatures from 10 mK to 300K and strong magnetic fields from 0 to 10 Tesla.

The measuring system will allow for the study of the transport of electric charges both at room temperature, e.g. in biological systems, as well as the transport of charges and phonons in low-dimensional materials such as graphene, topological insulators, Weyl semimetals and many others.
