The Poznan University of Life Sciences (UPP) is a partner of the exhibition “Not this sky”, at Poznan’s Zamek Cultural Centre. There, scientists from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences present the extraordinary world of microbes.
The starting point for the story presented in the exhibition is astronomy and the phenomenon of the starry sky. However, visitors to the exhibition have the opportunity to learn interesting facts not only related to the distant cosmos, but also to discover a microcosm of microbes that is closer to us – tiny organisms that, thanks to their adaptability to inhabit different environments, gave rise to evolution.
‘The more closely we observe bacteria, the more we get to know them by penetrating their structure, properties and abilities, the more mysterious and immensely intelligent they seem’, says UPP Professor Agnieszka Pękala-Safińska, from the Department of Preclinical Sciences and Infectious Diseases, who was involved in preparing the exhibition.
