09.03.2020

Students from the Academic Aviation Club of Poznan University of Technology will take part in the SAE Aero Design unmanned aircraft competition for the 13th time. Their solutions will compete with aircraft from teams from all the world.

SAE Aero Design is the international competition of technical university students. It involves designing and constructing remotely controlled aircraft that will be able to carry the biggest weight. The competition is organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).

Poznan students will start in two classes. The Regular class aircraft has over 3 meters of wingspan, it is powered by a 1000-watt electric motor. Its construction is mainly made of aviation plywood, which is also reinforced with aluminum elements in places where bigger strength is required. The Micro class design has less than a meter of wingspan and over 80 centimeters in length. It is powered by a 250-watt motor.
