Poznański scientist at the International Commission on the History of Geological Sciences

Professor dr hab. Janusz Skoczylas from the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań became an honorary member of the International Commission on the History of Geological Sciences as part of the International Union of Geological Sciences (INHIGEO IUGS).

INHIGEO IUGS is an organization that promotes current research on the history of Earth sciences. It sponsors the annual symposium, promotes publications of individual and collective works on the history of geology and historical research in the field of earth sciences. It was established in 1967 and currently associates about 300 members from 57 countries.

Professor Skoczylas is a member of the Institute of Geology of the Faculty of Geographic and Geological Sciences of the University. His scientific interests include petroarcheology (archeometry), regional geology, dynamic geology, sozology (geoecology), history of geology, exploration, exploitation and use of rock raw materials.
