President Andrzej Duda was a guest at the Academic Computer Centre CYFRONET of the AGH University of Science and Technology (AGH) in Kraków, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

Krakow’s scientific community has made a huge contribution to the development of Poland and subsequent generations. To date, the achievements here rival world accomplishments. “On behalf of the Republic of Poland, I would like to thank you”, said Andrzej Duda during the ceremony during which he awarded distinguished employees of ACK CYFRONET AGH with state distinctions.

In his speech, the Director of CYFRONET Professor Kazimierz Wiatr presented the most important facts from the history of the unit: from its foundation in 1973, through a series of events and dynamic technological changes of the last half-century, to the present state and further challenges. Also presented were the ICT resources of ACK Cyfronet AGH, including the ICT network, supercomputers and data storage systems.
