Former Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Prof. Grzegorz Wrochna was appointed by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Development, Labor and Technology Jarosław Gowin as the president of the Polish Space Agency (POLSA).
In 1986–1991, Prof. Wrochna worked at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw, collaborated with the DESY centers in Hamburg and CERN in Geneva. In 1991–1998 at CERN, he participated in the design and construction of the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider LHC.
He was the initiator of the creation of the National Center for Nuclear Research in 2011 and its director until 2015. He represented Poland on EURATOM program committees, OECD Nuclear Energy Agency committees, and the Supervisory Board of the EU Joint Research Center (from 2019). In 2017–2018 he was the chairman of the Scientific Policy Committee.
In the years 2019-2020 he was the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
