Professor Jan Maciejewski, head of the Department of Sociology of Availability Groups at the Institute of Sociology at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Wrocław, has become the first Polish laureate of the Premio Apoxiomeno award.

The Apoxiomeno Association, based in Florence, aims to promote legality and security from the perspective of various areas of life under the slogan “Art and sport in uniform”. In the art and culture category, awards are given to artists, journalists and representatives of international cinematography promoting the activities of security services and the army. In the sport category, the prize is awarded to Olympic athletes promoting the values of peace and solidarity through sport.

This year, for the first time in history, the jury decided to distinguish a representative of science dealing with security issues. Professor Maciejewski was awarded for innovative scientific activity in the field of the sociology of disposable groups.
