Prof. Juliusz Chrościcki to hold a lecture in the Museum of the University of Wroclaw

The Museum of the University of Wroclaw invites participants on February 1 for a lecture by Prof. Juliusz Chrościcki “READING LETTER of Jan Vermeer van Delft”. Professor Chrościcki is one of the greatest Polish historians of modern art and a specialist in the field of iconography of power.

The lecture will be devoted to a chosen motif in the work of one of the most famous painters in history: Jan Vermeer van Delft. This Dutch artist is considered to be the master of genre scenes, especially the pictures of women in residential interiors, occupied with everyday activities, such as reading.

Professor Chrościcki has been associated with the University of Warsaw, where he has been the deputy dean and dean of the Historical Department. He was the director of the Polish center at the Sorbonne in Paris. He is a co-creator and editor-in-chief of the journal “Barocco. History-Literature-Art” and the author of numerous scientific publications on the history of art and culture of modern Europe.
