Lecturer at the Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice, Prof. Krzysztof Zanussi received the Golden Pegasus – the prestigious Ennio Flaiano for the best theater director for the performance “L’odore” (“Scent”). It was presented at the 49th Premi Internazionali E. Flaiano festival in Pescara, Italy.
The awarding of the award, founded in 1973 in honor of the writer Ennio Flaiano, is linked in Italy with a series of cultural events in the fields of literature, theater, cinema and television. Among the winners of the award are famous representatives of contemporary culture – incl. Paulo Coelho, Dario Fo, Billy Wilder, Peter Greenaway, Ken Loach, Giulietta Masina and Krzysztof Kieślowski.
Prof. Zanussi is an outstanding creator, director, writer of scripts, book publications and columns, a film producer, and a valued academic teacher. He is the founder of the school of directors of the Radio and Television Department of the University of Silesia, with which he has been associated since 1980.
