Professor Marcin Drąg, scientist at the chemical faculty of the Wrocław University of Technology, will receive the Wrocław Prize this year. The award will be given during the celebration of the city holiday on June 24.

The scientist was recognized for creating a unique imaging laboratory in which he and his team developed the key enzyme SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and thus opened the way to the development of a drug for COVID-19.

Another award of the municipal government – the Award of the Mayor of Wrocław will be given this year to Prof. Krzysztof Simon, head of the infectious department of the Provincial Specialist Hospital and Lower Silesian voivodship consultant in the field of infectious diseases.
