Scientists from the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Technic Faculty of the State Higher Vocational School (PWSZ) in Tarnów designed a stand for measuring body temperature at a distance.

The apparatus, after passing the appropriate tests, was delivered to the St Luca Provincial Hospital in Tarnów. The system was created in an express mode, and additionally it cost 20 times cheaper than similar solutions offered on the market. It has been enriched with an alarm that will soundly inform about “tracking” a person with elevated temperature.

The device uses an infrared microcamera and analyzes the radiation emitted by faces. The camera used in the system is small, but one measurement replaces over one hundred thousand individual electronic thermometers.

The system designed at PWSZ is to support the work of medical personnel and improve safety in healthcare.
