Professor Chłosta becomes honorary doctor of Semmelweis University in Budapest

Head of the Chair and Clinic of Urology at the Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków Prof. Piotr Chłosta received the honorary doctorate of the Semmelweis University in Budapest, the oldest medical school in Hungary.

Professor Chłosta is an outstanding specialist in the field of urology. The main areas of his scientific and professional interests are oncological urology, endourology and laparoscopic urology.

As the first urologist in Poland and one of the first in the world to perform laparoscopic excision of retroperitoneal lymph nodes in patients with metastatic testicular cancer, he was the first in Poland to create a replacement intestinal bladder only laparoscopically and, as the first urologist in the world, performed an implantation of artificial sphincter around the prostatic coil in a man by laparoscopy.
