Professor Barbara Hlibowicka-Węglarz, head of Portuguese studies at the Maria Curie Skłodowska University in Lublin and honorary consul of Brazil in Lublin, was honored with one of the highest state decorations of Brazil – Order of Rio Branco. The award was granted by the President of the Republic of Brazil, Michel Temer – informs Aneta Adamska, spokesman for the Lublin university.
The award ceremony took place on June 20 at the embassy of Brazil in Warsaw. The Order of Rio Branco has been awarded annually since 1963, mainly to diplomats and politicians, on the occasion of the “Day of Diplomacy” on 20th April – at the birth date of Baron Rio Branco – a well-known Brazilian diplomat, patron of Brazilian diplomacy.
