Professor Jerzy Łuczka becomes a member of the National Council of the Center for Science

Professor Jerzy Łuczka, head of the Department of Theoretical Physics at the University of Silesia, becomes a member of the National Council of the Center for Science (NCN).

The NCN Council consists of twenty-four scientists representing various disciplines of science. Their duties include defining priority areas of basic research and conditions for conducting competitions for research projects, determining the amount of funds allocated for them, as well as announcing competitions.

Professor Łuczka conducts research on classical and quantum statistical physics of non-equilibrium processes, physical basis of quantum information, nanophysics and modeling of biological and Brownian molecular motors. From 2012, he is chairman of the Council of Statistical and Non-linear Physics at the European Physical Society, he is also a member of the Liaison Scientists Network (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft – Foundation for Polish Science).
