Kielce University of Technology awarded the title of doctor honoris causa to Prof. Eng. Kazimierz Furtak, Rector of the Krakow University of Technology in the 2008-2012 and 2012-2016 terms.

Professor Furtak is an outstanding expert in the field of civil engineering. He specializes in issues related to construction and materials research, construction of bridges and tunnels, concrete and wooden structures, reinforcement and modernization of bridge structures. His scientific activity resulted in the introduction to the Polish bridge technology of ferroconcrete assembly of a bridge deck with steel girders using slat joints.

From 2017, he is the chairman of the Central Commission for Degrees and Titles. In addition, he chairs the Commission of Technical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Learning, as well as the Committee of Civil and Water Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
