15.07.2020

Professor Marta Szulkin from the Center of New Technologies of the University of Warsaw (UW) is a co-editor of the publication of Oxford University Press entitled “Urban Evolutionary Biology”.

This is the first scientific book defining and describing the evolutionary processes in the city that have emerged as the consequences of human activity and urbanization.

It fills an important research gap about the evolution of wild organisms in the urban environment, describing the rapidly developing new field of evolutionary research. The growing pace of urbanization and the development of research of urbanization worldwide means that interest in the urban environment as a factor in evolutionary changes is growing rapidly – says Prof. Marta Szulkin.

“Urban Evolutionary Biology” is a scientific textbook for students, PhD students and scientists dealing with evolutionary biology, genetics, behavior, physiology and ecology of urban environments.
