Professor Piotr Mickiewicz wins the Polish Geopolitical Society award

Professor Piotr Mickiewicz, political scientist and historian of recent history, working for the Lower Silesian University was awarded the Polish Geopolitical Society prize for scientific achievements in the field of geopolitics.

The Oscar Żebrowski’s Award was presented during the congress of the Polish Geopolitical Society Prof. Mickiewicz received it being a member of this scientific society. The laureate’s main research interests include the issues of using the military potential in the politics of states and the political and military impact of states and non-state actors on maritime waters.

Professor Mickiewicz is a graduate of the Naval Academy and the University of Gdańsk. In the years 1990–1997 he was an officer of the School Ship Group, and then an academic lecturer. He is the editor-in-chief of the “Yearbook of International Security” and chairman of the regional committee of the Olympics Knowledge about Poland and the Contemporary World.
