PWr in Space takes 3rd place in the European rocket competition

15.12.2021

The hybrid probing rocket designed and developed by students of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology took third place in the general classification of the European Rocketry Challenge competition and second place in its class for hybrid rockets. Its creators received also the Design Award.

Students from the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology in Space participated in the competition in Portugal with the R4 Lynx rocket, which they had been working on for a year and a half. The design has a hybrid engine and is made of composite materials – carbon and glass fibers. As a result, with a height of about four meters, it weighs only 35 kg (the rockets of other teams were about twice as large).

“Lynx” rose to an altitude of 2.6 km, which, combined with other ratings, gave the team from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology 3rd place in the general classification, 2nd in the hybrid rocket category and the Design Award – granted for the best project implementation. The 20 best teams from Europe took part in this competition.
