Rector’s election of the University of Warsaw postponed by two months

The election of the rector of the University of Warsaw (UW) scheduled for April 22 was postponed to June 17. This is related to the current epidemiological situation.

The University Electoral Commission, in connection with the ordinance of the UW rector regarding the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 virus, adopted a resolution to change the calendar of election activities. Its most important consequence is to postpone the election of the rector until June 17. Originally, it was planned to take place on April 22. Also the ordinance moved other events including Senate meeting on giving opinions on candidates (up to May 20) or pre-election meeting with candidates (up to May 25).

The following candidates apply for the chair of the rector of the University of Warsaw: Prof. Alojzy N. Nowak – dean of the Faculty of Management, Prof. Paweł Strzelecki – dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw and Prof. Andrzej Tarlecki – Vice Rector for Human Resources and Financial Policy.
