Researchers from the Information Processing Centre (OPI) have produced a report commissioned by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education “Analysis of the state of open science in Poland”.
The idea of open science affects the activities of Polish scientific entities, which has not been the subject of extensive research to date. The multidimensional diagnosis of the scale of involvement of Polish institutions in open science-related activities between 2017 and 2021, prepared by OPI researchers, is filling this gap.
The OPI study showed that in recent years, an increasing number of institutions have started to adopt open access policies. The first such documents appeared in 2016, while the largest number were adopted in 2018 and 2021 (12 and 13 respectively). Yet 34 institutions declared plans to develop a document in 2023.
The report shows that institutions have started to adopt open access policy documents in response to changes in standards for research and scholarly communication.
