Report “Foreign students in Poland 2023”

In the 2022/23 academic year, the number of foreign students exceeded the 100,000 barrier for the first time, with 105,404 students from 179 countries studying in Poland, according to the report “Foreign students in Poland 2023” published by the Educational Foundation “Perspektywy” – based on data from the Central Statistical Office, which also takes into account incoming exchange students.

Foreign students currently account for more than 8.61 % of the total number of students in our country, which means that we have reached the European average in this respect.

Europeans are the most likely to choose to study in Poland, accounting for more than 72 % of all students. The second group is made up of people from Asia – 16.5%. As in the previous year, the number of students from Africa increased.

The largest, dominant group at Polish universities has for years been students from Ukraine and Belarus. In the 2022/23 academic year, 48 056 Ukrainians and 12 014 Belarusians were studying in Poland. The third nation most likely to choose Polish universities is the Turks (3,789).
